Annotation

Drawing on a narrative interview study of a Spanish as a second language learner, this paper presents three major properties of second language classroom motivation: dynamic or changing, historical, and mediating. Second language classroom motivation as emotional meaning is not linked to second language learning achievement but to personal reflection.
