Drawing on folk linguistic perspectives to attitudes research, this study discusses Polish students' perceptions of and attitudes towards the main regional Polish varieties. Students’ subjective dialect mapping did not correlate with the dialect maps offered by Polish dialectologists. Assessments of precision and amenity appear to be affected by Poland's socio-political situation, in particular links with Germanness and Russianness.
