This study discusses Chinglish as Chinese-English translations (in non-Chinese lettering for the pretense of cosmopolitanism) found on public bilingual, mainly tourist signage, in the People's Republic of China. The majority of errors appear to be made up by over-literal translations with grammatical faults. The number of Propaganda Chinglish signs is very small, and more than 80% of these signs do not mention the institutions or authorities that published the signs.
