Annotation

More than half a century after Senegalese independence, its national languages remain absent from the educational system and the dominant former colonial language, French, still constitutes the sole medium of instruction and a compulsory school subject, despite of pressures from within and outside the country. This paper explores personal narratives in favor of mother-tongue education in Senegal.
