Focusing on professionals' -like counsellors', health workers', and physicians'-, need to adopt specific formats to support clients' advice acceptance, this study explores one initiative, Kid’s Helpline, Australia's national counselling service for children and young people, and in particular one practice, the use of counsellor script proposals, which appear to provide a means of offering client support in accordance with the required institutional values of self-direction and empowerment.
