Annotation

Drawing upon business meeting excerpts, recorded in multinational firms in Europe, and assigned a problem solving (PbS) role, it is shown how problem solving practices and processes are rooted in organizational structure, local history and employees’ shared observations of professional practices and workplace hierarchies. Two PbS talk focal points -namely problem identification and ownership- appear as locally constructed starting points.
