This discursive psychological study of a corpus of 12 talkback radio calls to an evening radio personality in Adelaide, following the stabbing death of a Sudanese-Australian refugee, reveals how 'sympathy' talk may constitute an element in the increasingly omnifarious and captious activity of ‘new racism’.
