Drawing on Van Dijk’s Socio-ideological Discourse Theory and Wodak's Discourse-Historical Approach, this comparative, descriptive exploration of the news coverage of Saddam’s execution by Arab and Western media, focuses on sociolinguistic text and rhetoric analysis, which allows for the de-construction of news media coverage in terms of macro-microstructures, micro-semantics, and rhetoric news discourse. Technical analyses offer access to hidden opinion, ideology, and dogmas.
