Annotation

This study surveys the long history of the Accademia della Crusca, an informal organisation which produced the first modern Italian language dictionary in the 17th century. The last Italian Presidents have awarded the Accademia the new role of leader of national consciousnes in modern Italian corpus and status planning, and involved it in Italian language planning activities, both in Italy and abroad.
