This study argues that a slowdown in heritage Russian-English bilinguals' contrastiveness processing, results from a cascading impact of latent rivalry between the two languages, that begins at the spoken word recognition level and ends at the interfaces and, over time, it may become a great contributing power to heritage language attrition.
