Annotation

Drawing on Agha's anthropological theory of enregisterment as a helpful tool for reading the outcomes of language contact, this study shows that whereas some Quechua contact characteristics in Spanish have been related to informal contexts linked to Quechua and Quechua speakers via the enregisterment process, other characteristics skipped this process, conserving Quechua pragmatic content that relates them to a formal register.
