This volume examines how criticism in scientific writing is expressed by various linguistic communities, such as French, English, German, Spanish, and Serbian; how criticism is addressed in multiple genres, with examples drawn from research articles, book reviews, review/meta-analysis papers, referees' reports, and editorials; to what extent criticism is affected by academic discipline, with findings from linguistics, literary research, musicology, business, economics, biology, physics, chemistry and medicine; and the effect of interpersonal considerations on the linguistic realization of criticism.
