Exploring the patterning of Japanese verbal and nonverbal “repetition” in first-aid practice, this study argues that Japanese interlocutors demonstrate inherent dispositions to converge onto odd-number constructions in the middle range of ethnopoetic formation. This kind of latent format-sharing depicts a culturally preferred presentation/reception format and helps to explain the culturally embedded discursive “habitus” in the everyday instructional practice.
