This article examines how story recipients achieve the two-fold task of showing alignment with the speaker's role allocation and listenership on the one hand, and connection on the other. It is suggested that a minimal uptake is expected, demanding merely a minimal slot in the storytelling flow and facial expressions most likely adapted to this slot.
