Annotation

Drawing on conversational interactions between a native and a nonnative Spanish speaker, recorded in the course of the learner's stay abroad, this study explores the interlocutors’ orientation towards their respective novice and expert identities, and how this moves away from the original dynamic involving a learning orientation, towards an acknowledgment that the novice/expert dynamic is only a resource disposable in need.
