Drawing on the analysis of 120 English postings from the MailOnline, it is argued that online disagreements constitute an especially interesting and suitable laboratory to examine different ways of conveying emotional stance (Mateosian, 2005). It is suggested to combine a quantitative analysis with a qualitative discussion in order to reveal the intricate and dynamic interaction between conceptual, relational and affective meaning. This advocates a discursive approach for exploring emotional stance in conflict and disagreements.
