This paper examines four Hollywood films set in Hawai‘i to elucidate how specific languages and language varieties typify Hawaiian and mainland US characters. The analysis of films featuring 'Haole' (Whites, Ousiders), demonstrates how cultural differences are defined via divergent language choice, mock languages etc.
