Annotation

This paper critically explores how the Norwegian University of Science and Technology seeks to levy transnational students via the use of bilingual information on its website. It is argued that in the English 'transadaptation', perceived by future students as a fitting translation, aspects of the local Norwegian culture are systematically belittled, a “cultural suppression”, which might in the end chase off students fumbling for a university grounded on cultural specificity, and not merely yet another Anglophone/Anglocultural university.
