This study of contextual components employed to express sarcastic verbal irony, exploring whether theoretical components considered as necessary for generating a sense of irony are indeed necessary, validates the constraint satisfaction models of sarcasm processing in which varied (extra)linguistic information offers presumable (but not required) backing for or against a sarcastic interpretation.
