This paper shows the cursive, culturally embedded and co-constructed character of Chinese medicine translation from Chinese into English. Classroom interaction participants in a southern Californian school of Chinese medicine are thus demonstrated to employ translation as a social positioning platform and mechanism for socializing interlocutors into different evidence notions of language ideologies.
