Annotation
It is argued that middle-class Korean visa students (yuhaksaeng) in Toronto use re-valued Korean language and culture varieties as stylistic resources to challenge their marginal positions as ‘FOBs’ (Fresh-Off-the-Boats) and ‘Nerds’ in paramount Western racial discourse and present themselves as rich, modern, hybrid global-Korean subjects vis-à-vis the long-term local Korean diaspora and Canadians themselves.
