Annotation

This study demonstrates that in the sphere of simple episodic actions, the absence of tense in Chinese directs speakers by default to concentrate on temporal continuity as contrasted to temporal segmentation. Overall, Chinese descriptions stick less tightly to implicit tri-phasic (past, present, future) temporal framing than English ones.
