This study examines in what way the sequential import of special activities is distinguished, or determined, in the course of their production, and sensitive to the (potential) participation of certain individuals within the great multi-party meeting of an auction. It explores the implications of the hammer strike for our comprehension of language use and interaction in institutional market environments.
