This article discusses how a child pursues adult receptivity in multi-party family interaction during Christmas, reconceptualising children's ‘rights to speak’ in interaction after the example of ‘rights to engage’ and adding to the comprehension of their communicative competence, and more generic aspects of multi-party interaction management.
