Annotation

Drawing on evaluation reports on Taiwan's university programs, this paper discusses how the Chinese disourse, metadiscourse and metapragmatic marker 'Dan' marks: contrast, “pre-advice”, the writer's voice presence, aifd for the reader in interpreting two information segments, aid for the writer in evaluation and opposition to a potential face-threatening act.
