Annotation

This paper argues that the non-vocal actions of hearing-impaired (HI) recipients in dyadic interactions are consequential actions reinforcing their cooperation with the speaker. Non-vocal actions of trouble allow the sharing of the HI recipient's perceptual incertitude in a face-saving way without expressly impeding the conversational flow.
