It is argued that the Conceptual Blending theory can be employed as a uniquely effective instrument to analyze associative processes in pragmatics research, and in casu show the covert meaning and argumentation behind the new (and offensive) concept of 'anchor babies', framing children of undocumented immigrants' to the US, used as a tool to get resources, legal status, and persisting connections to the U.S
