This paper draws on van Eemeren's (2010) integrated pragma-dialectical argumentation theory and Sperber and Wilson's (1995) cognitive pragmatics, to handle informal fallacies in an elaborate pragmatic account that explores both their invalidity and illusive – sometimes fallacious – nature.
