Using ethnographic data from mixed-status Mexican families living in the New Latino Diaspora, this paper explores how two undocumented mothers both study and execute the practice of giving testimonio during everyday conversations in their home, as a symbolic and strategic substitute for participation in a legal system that procures migrants some due process rights yet forbids them the civil rights given to US citizens.
