This corpus-based study compares the use of the crisis metaphor representing the 2008 global economic crisis in the mainstream British and Russian economic press, indicating universal and culture-specific aspects. Russian metaphors of the economic crisis appear to carry more pragmatic vigor and diversity than English ones.
