Annotation

Drawing on Lakoff and Johnson's conceptual metaphor theory and Charteris-Black's critical metaphor analysis, this paper discusses how Churchill's clever use of mass persuasive wartime speech dysphemism (over the period 1940–1941) is closely linked to his overall political target of inspiring courage and confidence in his fellow countrymen.
