This paper discusses language policy implementation as a communicative event chains constellation in a Paraguayan language policy ethnography, tracking two broadly spread images of the Guarani speaker -all schoolchildren are to be taught in the official Spanish and Guarani languages-, as they appear in policy text, in educators' talk about policy and in practice, as one manner to clarify links between texts and actors' policy interpretations at different levels.
