This paper proposes to refraim the focus of Breton language revitalization initiatives by presenting the Breton language community, rather than the Breton language, as key unit of inquiry. It thus generates a view of Breton as a situated social practice, employed by a group of people in linked yet diverse ways, rather than as a set and normative code.
