Annotation

This paper explores how native French speaking, 2 to 6 year old children from divergent social backgrounds, generate and assess obligatory and variable liaisons. Albeit the skills to assess different linguistic forms occur at an early developmental stage, the awareness of variants' social value does not appear to forego the capacity to choose the standard varieties in formal situations.
