Annotation

This analysis of modern Japanese college students' attitudes towards Japan English (JE) and American English (AE) via a verbal guise test (VGT) and a questionnaire, reveals how Japanese respondents assessed AE more highly than JE as to power items, yet preferred JE over AE as to solidarity items overall, and desired JE to become an internationally accepted English language variety.
