This article examines how the language peril/revitalisation discourse was gradually constructed as a new Foucauldian truth regime, accentuating the connection between language and community, and trying to reduce internal and external conflict. Drawing on the French Occitan school of sociolinguistics, it presents an approach focused on social actors and processes instead of on languages.
