Annotation

This paper explores the authenticity of simulated talk by comparing real and role-played, recorded British police interviews. The analysis discloses that though compared interview openings are broadly similar, dissimilarities are discernible in interview design and organization. It discusses consequences for the expedience of role-play methods for communication training and evaluation.
