This paper examines the crossing of collective and personal memory in Uruguayan teenagers knowledge on Uruguayan dictatorship (1973–1985) and what discourses contribute to developing these views. What youth know about the past appears to be a situated and socially distributed meaning network that help them make sense of the past and negotiate their own socio-political identities.
