This paper discusses how the multilingual digital texting genre in 5 African countries (Ivory Coast, Ghana, Nigeria, Senegal and South Africa), is often deployed to express positive emotions in intimate interactions. A good texter possesses ‘textual linguistic dexterity’ at a quick speed.
