Annotation
This cross-linguistic and cross-cultural study discusses Gurindji 'baby talk' phonological forms and functions. Various phonological reductions are familiar to universal baby talk, others are less so.The functions appear to cover both well-known baby talk functions like holding attention and less familiar functions, such as easing children's imitations in production.
