This paper explores whether Danes’ understanding of the closely akin Norwegian language is hindered by specific Norwegian grammatical constructions. Sentence comprehension was experimentally evaluated under four different conditions to determine the relative impact on intelligibility of non-native morphosyntactic properties as opposed to non-native phonology.
