This paper explores the exigencies for succesful multiculturalism in the New Zealand society. Many are met, but some obstacles remain and are reviewed: i.e. the opposition to a resource-specific multicultural ideology that includes race-based interventions to decrease social inequality and a lower than usual cordiality level level towards immigrant Asians.
