What separates humorous(ly creative) similes from the wider group of creative similes? Similes that use either irony or ridicule (or both) are as a rule expressly distinguished by a semantic imprecision marker like “about”. “About”-marked similes curiously display a discernible affective signature that further transmits an author’s humorous goal to the similes' intended audience.
