This paper sets out to map and classify co-textual irony markers across four text genres (newspaper columns, letters to the editor, advertisements and book and film reviews). The use of the three distinguished irony support strategies -mood markers, tropes and other ironic utterances- appears positively linked to the genre of newspaper columns.
