This paper explores Thailand's domestic legal status as to educational linguistic human rights and its compliance with international treaty plights. It further examines the realization of the modern policy framework in the case of the main regional languages and of Thai Malay in the Deep South. It also considers future educational developments and the potential role of the mother tongue.
