The examined effort of integrating oral (aboriginal Stó:lō people narratives-based) language activities in the language arts curriculum of one British Columbia elementary school, appeared effective at fostering commitment in at least some marginalised pupils, yet restricted by cultural and political factors that were not considered in the original imaginative oral language development research design.
