This paper discusses how Latino descent immigrant youngsters in Barcelona mix Catalan and Spanish vernacular varieties with a new Latino language into a hybrid repertoire, linked to core issues like speaker stance towards school and to symbolic facets of wider processes, like language and people re-territorialization and new identity construction. The study concentrates on how the repertoire's hybrid features are conveyed among peers, and on how teachers classify and assess it.
