K. discusses a variety of principles determining the order of constituents in utterances, viz. the 'From-old-to-new' principle, the 'From-light-to-heavy' principle, empathy, and the principle of economy; more particularly, he tests some violations of these principles. In addition, he considers some violations of discourse principles involved in the use of quantifiers.
