Albeit no significant differences appear between Chinese adoptees in French families and nonadopted monolingual French-speaking children of 7 years old as to cognitive and socioemotional development, the adoptees achieved significantly lower than the controls on criteria of word definitions, expressive vocabulary, sentence recall and receptive grammar.
