Annotation

This study explores repair phenomena in a limited language play event that occurred in a notorious political weblog, Daily Kos. One diarist-member used a passive voice frame to criticize the actual state of American politics as well as blog member conduct. Active voice contributions, breaching the passive frame ‘rule’ defined by the initial diarist, were often submitted to playful repair and correction, rebuke, and even mockery. Moreover, the repairs were reactive to the technological possibilities of computer-mediated discourse (e.g., Herring, 1999, 2013).
